FOUR THINGS THAT DECIDE WHICH RIG IS RIGHT.

HEAT SOURCE

Electric holds a set temperature and repeats itself every session. Glass needs a torch and gives you the control if you want it.

SIZE

Shorter beats taller here. Six to nine inches keeps the vapour concentrated instead of letting it go stale in a long chamber.

FILTRATION

A percolator cools the hit. A recycler loops it before it reaches you and cools it further. Both change temperature, not strength.

BUDGET

Entry glass does the job. Electric costs more up front and removes the guesswork on heat. Neither is wrong.

RIG QUESTIONS, ANSWERED STRAIGHT

What is a dab rig?

A dab rig is a water pipe built for concentrates instead of flower. Rather than a bowl you light, it uses a quartz banger or a heated element that you bring up to temperature, then apply the concentrate to. The water cools the vapour on the way through. Same cooling idea as a bong, different heat source, built for wax, badder, rosin and diamonds.

What is the difference between an electric rig and a glass rig?

A glass rig needs an external torch and your own judgement on heat. An electric rig has the heating element built in, holds a set temperature, and runs off a battery. Electric costs more up front and gives you the same result every session. Glass costs less, lasts as long as you do not drop it, and gives you more control if you want it.

What size dab rig should I start with?

Smaller than you think. Rigs in the 6 to 9 inch range concentrate the vapour instead of letting it spread out and go stale in a long chamber, which is why most rigs are far shorter than bongs. A compact rig with a decent percolator will out-perform a tall one almost every time.

What does a percolator or recycler actually do?

A percolator breaks vapour into smaller bubbles so more of it touches the water and cools faster. A recycler goes further and loops the vapour and water around a circuit before it reaches you, so it arrives cooler and smoother. Both are about temperature at the mouthpiece, not strength — you are not losing anything by running one.

How do I heat a quartz banger properly?

Heat the banger until it glows, then take the torch off and let it cool before you dab. Going straight in on a glowing banger scorches the concentrate and wastes it, and it is the most common mistake with a new rig. Cooler and slower gives you more flavour and less harshness. An electric rig removes the guesswork entirely.

How do I clean a dab rig?

Clean it far more often than a flower piece — residue builds fast and ruins flavour within a few sessions. Isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt, shaken through the chamber, handles the glass. Swab the banger with a cotton bud while it is still warm after each dab and it will stay clear for months.

Do you ship dab rigs everywhere?

Glass and hardware ship across most of the U.S. A small number of items cannot ship to every address, and checkout tells you before you pay rather than after. Everything on this page is 21+ only and ID is checked at checkout.
